First time filmmaker Emily Arndt, Director and Producer of The Space Between, is originally from the Philadelphia area and grew up in New Jersey. Emily graduated from high school in Manahawkin, NJ before moving to York, PA for college at York College of Pennsylvania, where she earned a BA in Political Science and a minor in photography.
After college, Emily served as an AmeriCorps volunteer at the United Way of York County, then as a Peace Corps volunteer in Azerbaijan from 2012-2014. Emily really enjoyed getting to learn another language, Azerbaijani, and feeling at home in another culture. After working in the federal government for several years and on political campaigns, Emily received her Master’s in Political Communication from American University in 2021.
Because she was tired of seeing so much division in America, for her master’s thesis project, Emily decided to produce a film to discover whether four diverse people she interviewed would have similarities. The project grew from there.
In her free time, Emily likes listening to records and audiobooks, going for walks, hanging out with friends, going to the beach, traveling(!), and writing.
Emily is making this film not for personal benefit, but to give her fellow Americans hope that we can heal and come together as a nation.
Emily would like to thank everyone below for their amazing contributions to the film. Check out their websites and pages for their services and other work!
